A Gift Still Unfolding

I received the gift when I was just a young girl.

Knees bent, heart open, faith simple and small — but sincere. I didn’t know all the right words. I didn’t understand the full depth of what I was saying yes to. But I knew this: Jesus loved me. He died for me. And I wanted to follow Him.

That moment marked me.

Not because I instantly became someone polished or perfect — but because something deep and eternal began. A rescue. A relationship. A slow, steady unwrapping of a gift far too big to comprehend all at once.

And all these years later?

I’m still opening it.

I’m still learning what it means to be forgiven. To be free. To be fully known and fully loved by a God who didn’t just come for the world—He came for me.

His grace didn’t just save me back then — it sustains me now. Grows me. Changes me. Astounds me.

And I want you to know: this same grace, this same gift — it’s for you, too.

The Bible says:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

—Romans 6:23

That word gift — it’s everything.

We don’t work for it. We don’t earn it. We don’t clean ourselves up to be worthy of it. We just receive it. Humbly. Willingly. Like a child, arms open, heart surrendered.

That’s what I did. And that’s what you can do today.

Here’s the truth that changed my life — and still shapes it every single day:

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to do what we could never do. He lived sinlessly. Loved perfectly. And then willingly laid His life down on the cross — for us.

For you.

For me.

He bore every wrong, every shame, every sin. He took it all upon Himself and died the death we deserved—so we could live the life we never could’ve earned.

But the story didn’t end there.

Three days later, Jesus rose from the grave. He defeated death. He broke the curse. He made a way for us to be made right with God — not by our effort, but by His mercy.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

—Romans 5:8

The more I grow, the more I see: this gift wasn’t just for a moment. It’s for every moment. Every season. Every stumble. Every surrender.

I am who I am today not because I figured life out, but because God is faithful to finish what He started. He keeps working in me, gently and powerfully, shaping me into someone I could never become on my own.

And the awe of it hasn’t worn off.

If anything, I’m more in awe now than I was back then. More aware of how deep His love runs. More convinced of how much I still need Him. More grateful that salvation isn’t just a past-tense event — it’s a present-tense miracle.

I’m still unwrapping this gift. Still discovering the riches of His grace. Still being amazed that He would choose someone like me.

And I want that for you too.

If you’ve never received the gift of salvation, you can. Right now. Wherever you are. It’s not about fancy words. It’s about real surrender.

Here’s what it means to receive that gift:

A — Admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior.

We all fall short. We’ve all gone our own way. But the first step to receiving God’s grace is being honest about our need for it.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” —Romans 3:23

B — Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again.

He didn’t stay in the grave. He conquered death so you could have life — eternal life and everyday life with Him now.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” —Acts 16:31

C — Confess Jesus as Lord and commit your life to Him.

Salvation isn’t about religion — it’s about relationship. Confessing Jesus as Lord means you’re entrusting your life to Him, letting Him lead, and walking with Him daily.

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9

A Prayer You Can Pray:

Jesus, I believe You are who You say You are — the Son of God, the Savior of the world. I believe You died for my sin and rose again so I could live. I confess I am a sinner and I need You. Forgive me. Change me. I receive the gift of salvation You freely offer. Thank You for loving me. Teach me to walk with You. I give You my life. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer… welcome.

This is the beginning of something beautiful.

And it’s all because of grace.

Because once you open the gift… you’ll never be the same.

And you’ll never stop discovering how much love it holds.
